JTET 2026 applications started: Jharkhand teacher recruitment opportunity

education career: There is great news for the candidates preparing to become teachers in government schools in Jharkhand. Jharkhand Educational Research and Training Council (JAC) has released the official notification for JTET 2026 i.e. Jharkhand Teacher Eligibility Test. Through this examination, the way will be paved to become assistant teachers in primary and upper primary schools of the state. This examination is being conducted after a long time, due to which enthusiasm is being seen among the candidates.

Application Process and Important Dates

The online application process for JTET 2026 has started from 21st April 2026. Interested candidates can apply till 21 May 2026. Applications will be accepted through online mode only. For this, candidates will have to register by visiting the official website jacexamportal.in. Candidates have been advised to read the entire notification carefully before applying, so that any kind of error can be avoided.

Examination will be held at two levels

JTET 2026 exam will be conducted at two different levels. The first paper will be for those candidates who want to teach classes 1 to 5. The second paper has been scheduled for candidates willing to teach classes 6 to 8. Candidates can apply for one or both the papers as per their aptitude. This system makes the selection process more transparent and systematic as per the teaching level.

Educational Qualification and Age Limit

For primary level (Class 1 to 5) candidates must have passed 12th with at least 50 percent marks. Along with this, 2 year Diploma in Elementary Education is mandatory.

For upper primary level (Class 6 to 8), candidates must have graduation degree with D.El.Ed or B.Ed with 50 percent marks.

The minimum age for this examination has been fixed at 21 years. Age will be calculated as on 1st August 2026. This time the government has also given special relaxation in the maximum age limit, so that more candidates can get the opportunity.

Application Fee and Exam Pattern

The application fee for JTET 2026 has been determined differently according to the category. General, OBC and EWS category candidates will have to pay a fee of Rs 1300. For SC and ST categories, this fee has been kept at Rs 700, while for the especially vulnerable tribal group, it has been fixed at Rs 500.

A total of 150 multiple choice questions will be asked in the examination. The biggest relief is that there will be no negative marking, so candidates can solve all the questions without any fear.

Highlights of the exam and selection process

In this examination candidates can apply only for Paper 1 or Paper 2 as per their aptitude and interest. Candidates who are willing to teach at both the levels can appear for both the papers. This examination is an important stage of the teacher recruitment process in Jharkhand, which helps in the selection of qualified and trained teachers.
