Whereas condom is also a medical product and it also has a fixed expiry date. According to experts, using expired condoms can be risky, because with time its material starts weakening.
If a condom is old, dry or torn, it cannot provide proper protection. This may increase the risk of unwanted pregnancy and sexually transmitted infections (STIs).
Condoms also have expiry dates. Generally, most condoms are considered good for 3 to 5 years, but it also depends on the material it is made of and how it is kept. The expiry date of a condom is written on its packet or box. Experts advise that this date should always be checked before use.
As time passes, the material of the condom begins to weaken. This may cause small holes, cracks or dryness in it, which are not easily visible.
