On Sunday, an Air India aircraft traveling from Mumbai to Bhopal experienced technical difficulties during its flight, prompting an emergency landing at Raja Bhoj Airport. The plane was carrying a total of 175 individuals, including crew members, all of whom are reported safe. According to the Airports Authority of India (AAI), flight AI 633 took off from Mumbai, and the pilot notified air traffic control (ATC) about the technical malfunction before reaching Bhopal.

Officials indicated that the flight was originally scheduled to return to Mumbai but was ultimately canceled. There were 178 passengers booked for this flight. The AAI stated that during the flight, the pilot communicated the technical issue to ATC.

The statement mentioned that all necessary safety protocols were promptly activated, ensuring seamless coordination among ATC, the airline's ground crew, the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), and the firefighting and rescue team at Bhopal Airport.

The airport operator confirmed that the aircraft safely landed at Bhopal Airport at 3:20 PM, carrying 166 passengers and nine crew members. The statement further noted that the airport and airline teams provided all necessary assistance and support to the flight crew as required.

Due to the technical malfunction, the aircraft was deemed unfit for further flight, leading the airline to cancel the return flight AI-634 from Bhopal to Mumbai for thorough inspection and repairs.
