A big step has been taken towards linking infrastructure and industrial development together in Uttar Pradesh. The Ganga Expressway is now being developed as an expressway-cum-industrial corridor model, which will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on April 29. Under this project, industrial nodes will be developed in 12 districts and an investment target of about Rs 47,000 crore has been set, which is expected to give a new impetus to employment and economic activities in the state.

Instead of limiting Ganga Expressway to just a road project, the Uttar Pradesh government has prepared a strategy to convert it into a big industrial hub. The government is developing it as an expressway-cum-industrial corridor, which will give a new direction to the manufacturing and logistics sector in the state.

12 industrial nodes will be developed along this 594 kilometer long expressway. Under the scheme of Uttar Pradesh Expressway Industrial Development Authority (UPEIDA), 6,507 acres of land has been identified for this. This entire project is being prepared as an Integrated Manufacturing and Logistics Cluster (IMLC), which will provide better connectivity and supply chain support to the industries.

12 districts will be covered

According to the government, so far 987 investment proposals have been received for this project, from which an investment of about Rs 47,000 crore is expected. This industrial corridor will cover 12 districts like Meerut, Hapur, Bulandshahr, Amroha, Sambhal, Badaun, Shahjahanpur, Hardoi, Unnao, Rae Bareli, Pratapgarh and Prayagraj.

Each node has been designed according to its geographical location and industrial capacity, so that balanced development of manufacturing, warehousing and logistics can be achieved. This will not only increase industrial investment but will also create large scale employment opportunities at the local level. The government believes that this project will transform the entire expressway into an economic development belt. Especially in districts like Hardoi, Unnao, Rae Bareli and Pratapgarh, rapid industrial development can be seen. This initiative will play an important role in reducing regional disparities and giving new impetus to the economy of Uttar Pradesh.
