The stars of Loose Women celebrated some exciting Christine Lampard news just minutes into the show's ITV return. The programme returned to screen on Monday (April 27) after weeks off air, following the broadcaster's cuts last year. Christine was joined by Coleen Nolan, Nadia Sawalha and Jane Moore, as they prepared to discuss the day's topical stories. But before they turned to the biggest news headlines, Coleen took a moment to mark an important milestone for her co-star.
"Before we carry on with the show and all the topics, we have to say it was a big, big week this week, wasn't it, for your husband," Coleen said to Christine. At the weekend, the star celebrated with her husband, Frank, after his football team, Coventry City, secured their return to the Premier League after 25 years.
"From the football perspective, and anyone that's obviously a football fan will get what the moment was at the weekend. Coventry were promoted to the Premier League, they've won their league - they're top of their table. I think they were 17th when [Frank] took them on," Christine said.
"It was just the most special day yesterday. He's got a brilliant coaching team around him. They're all really good mates. The players are a bunch of lovely lads. All of their partners and wives, all the children were there yesterday. It was a really special moment. And all of the people who work behind the scenes that never really get mentioned. You don't see them on the pitch, and they were all there just being part of this magical moment... It is a big achievement."
A clip was then played of Frank praising Christine at the EFL Awards earlier this month. While picking up his gong for Championship Manager of the Season, Frank said: "I am fortunate enough at this point to have a life balance, which is important for us, where I can go home to my wife, who supports me and gives me everything I need. She's my best friend.
"No, but she is, and it's serious. I'm lucky. She has her own career and so I think she kind of gets it."
Back in the ITV studio, Christine noted: "He may have had a couple of beers, just putting it out there first, just to settle the nerves as he put it. Another huge accolade."
She added: "It was a lovely moment. And to be fair to him, he didn't just wax lyrical randomly and invite me up on the stage. He was asked about what family life was like in terms of living in the football world. Obviously, it's not just me. It's all of the partners, everyone that's at home. There's no Christmases, there's no weekends, no Bank Holidays... Anyone doing any shift work at home will get it."
Coleen then joked: "Can I just say, I know with you it makes you embarrassed and a bit squirmy when it's done in public. But if I had been there, or if I had seen that on telly live, and he hadn't of mentioned you, I don't think I could be his friend after that."
Jane concluded: "It's an acknowledgement of all of that commitment that he's doing. The fact that he's got a family, he wouldn't be able to do that as well as he does without having back-up and support at home. So many people, I think, forget that."
Loose Women airs weekdays on ITV1 and ITVX at 12.30pm
