Gangtok, April 27: On Monday evening, Prime Minister Narendra Modi landed in Sikkim to participate in the closing ceremony marking 50 years of statehood and to inaugurate development initiatives valued at ₹4,000 crore.

Upon his arrival at the Libing helipad, he was welcomed by Governor Om Prakash Mathur and Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang.

In light of the Prime Minister's visit, extensive security measures have been implemented throughout the state capital and nearby regions, according to officials.

Following his arrival, Modi is set to lead a vibrant roadshow to Lok Bhavan from the helipad.

On Tuesday, he plans to visit the Orchidarium in Gangtok.

To highlight the state's ecological and floral heritage, a world-class Orchid Experience Centre named "Swarnajayanti Maitri Manjari Park" has been established in celebration of Sikkim's golden jubilee of statehood.

During the closing ceremony at Paljor Stadium, he will unveil development projects exceeding ₹4,000 crore, covering various sectors such as infrastructure, connectivity, healthcare, education, power, urban development, environment, tourism, and agriculture.

The Prime Minister will also address attendees during this significant event.

Although he was scheduled to attend the opening ceremony of the year-long celebrations for Sikkim's 50 years of statehood last year, he was unable to do so due to adverse weather conditions.

Instead, he addressed the audience via video conference from Siliguri in West Bengal.
