Weather Update: Alert of heavy rain and storm in 13 states

India Meteorological Department has issued a weather alert in many states for April 28. According to the report, there is a possibility of heavy rain, thunderstorm and strong winds in a total of 13 states including Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Rajasthan.

New Delhi: On one hand, there is severe heat and heat wave in many parts of India, while on the other hand, the weather patterns are going to change suddenly. The Indian Meteorological Department has issued a warning of heavy rain, strong thunderstorm and lightning in 13 states from North India to Northeast and Central India. According to the department, from April 28, the weather will be unstable in many areas and strong winds can blow at a speed of 60 to 80 kilometers per hour.

This seasonal change is being considered an important warning for farmers, travelers and common citizens, because it can affect crops, power system and traffic.

In which states alert issued?

According to IMD, the 13 states where severe weather alert has been issued include:

    • Uttar Pradesh

 

    • Bihar

 

    • Rajasthan

 

    • Punjab

 

    • Haryana

 

    • Uttarakhand

 

    • Himachal Pradesh

 

    • Madhya Pradesh

 

    • Jharkhand

 

    • west bengal

 

    • Odisha

 

    • Assam

 

    • Jammu and Kashmir

 

There is a possibility of heavy rain, storm and lightning in different areas in all these states.

Warning of strong winds and thunderstorms

The Meteorological Department has said that strong winds can blow at a speed of 60 to 80 km/hour in many areas. Due to this, there is a danger of trees falling, power lines being disrupted and weak structures being damaged. An upper atmospheric cyclone is active in eastern Uttar Pradesh and surrounding areas, due to which sudden heavy rains and lightning may occur.

There is an alert of heavy rain and strong thunderstorm in many districts of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. Cities like Lucknow, Kanpur, Meerut, Patna, Darbhanga and Muzaffarpur may be affected. Wind speed can reach 70 km/h.

Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh: There is a possibility of thunderstorm and rain in many districts of Rajasthan including Bikaner, Jodhpur and Jaipur. The weather will also be unstable in Bhopal, Indore and Jabalpur of Madhya Pradesh.

Situation in hill states: Heavy rain and snowfall like situation may occur in Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand. The weather can be dangerous with strong winds in areas like Shimla, Kullu, Nainital and Chamoli. Those traveling have been advised to take special precautions.

Delhi and surrounding areas: There will be severe heat and heat wave effect in the national capital Delhi on 28th April. Temperatures can reach 40 degrees Celsius, although light breeze may provide some relief in some areas.

IMD has advised farmers to keep their crops in a safe place and avoid harvesting. Strong winds and rain can cause damage to crops standing in the fields.
