Padma Awards Nominations 2027: The Government of India has initiated the nomination process for the Padma Awards 2027. These prestigious awards will be announced on Republic Day 2027. These awards are conferred to honor individuals who have made outstanding contributions in various fields across the country. Nominations and recommendations can be submitted exclusively online. To do so, one must utilize the Rashtriya Puraskar Portal (National Awards Portal). The deadline for nominations has been set for July 31, 2026, ensuring that the general public can also easily participate in this process.

Award Categories and Significance
The Padma Awards rank among India's highest civilian honors. Instituted in 1954, they are conferred annually on the occasion of Republic Day. The Padma Awards are presented in three categories:

Padma Vibhushan
Padma Bhushan
Padma Shri
These awards honor individuals who have performed exceptional and commendable work in their respective fields. These fields encompass a wide spectrum, including Art, Literature, Education, Sports, Medicine, Social Work, Science, Engineering, Public Affairs, Civil Services, and Trade & Industry. According to the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), nominations can be submitted solely through the online 'Rashtriya Puraskar Portal.' The Padma Awards will be announced on the occasion of Republic Day 2027.

Eligibility Criteria
All Indian citizens are eligible for these awards, and self-nominations are also accepted. However, government employees (excluding doctors and scientists) and employees of PSUs (Public Sector Undertakings) are not eligible, in order to prioritize non-governmental contributions. The government aims for the Padma Awards to truly become "People's Awards." Consequently, nominations for women, weaker sections of society, Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), persons with disabilities, and individuals performing selfless service at the grassroots level are being specifically encouraged.
