Many videos in the name of Prime Minister Narendra Modi are going viral on social media. It is being claimed in these videos that now banks are buying old, rare and antique notes and coins. It is also being said that bank employees are going door to door collecting such notes and coins. This claim is attracting a lot of people, especially those who have old notes or coins.
Government's fact check agency PIB Fact Check has termed these viral videos as completely fake. According to the agency, these videos have been made through AI technology i.e. deepfake, in which the Prime Minister's voice and video are being edited and false information is being spread.

Fact check has made it clear that no such scheme has been started by the Prime Minister or the Central Government, in which banks are buying old or antique notes and coins. Such claims are being spread only for the purpose of confusing and cheating people.
The government has appealed to the people not to believe such misleading videos or messages. Avoid sharing or forwarding any suspicious link, video or offer without checking. Experts say that through such fake claims, cyber fraudsters try to obtain money or personal information from people.
The government has advised citizens to use only official websites for correct and authentic information about any scheme. For this, MyScheme portal is a reliable platform, where information about all government schemes is available.
This incident has once again shown how rapidly the misuse of AI based deepfake technology is increasing. In such a situation, digital awareness and vigilance has become very important.
