Its purpose is to quickly curb cyber criminals.

There will be strict monitoring on SIM cards

According to India Today, the Central Government, in its report presented in the Supreme Court, has advocated strict rules to prevent misuse of SIM cards. According to the report, biometric verification will be further strengthened before issuing new SIMs. Besides, the scrutiny of sellers selling SIMs will also be more stringent than before. Telecom companies may have to share information about their customers with government agencies, so that immediate action can be taken in fraud cases. Fake or wrongly obtained SIM cards are often used in digital arrest scams, so the government wants to strengthen this link first.

Strictness on WhatsApp and digital platforms

The government has also suggested new security measures for instant messaging platforms like WhatsApp. It has been said in the report that the devices repeatedly used in fraud should be blocked. Apart from this, a system can be developed to link WhatsApp account to SIM card and identify suspicious long calls. To help the investigating agencies, a proposal has also been made to keep the data of deleted accounts safe for some time. Digital platforms will have to take swift action in collaboration with agencies like the Indian Cyber ​​Crime Coordination Centre, so that the fraud network can be broken in time.

Bank accounts will be frozen immediately, complain like this

The government has supported the policy of the Reserve Bank of India, under which bank accounts suspected to be linked to cyber fraud can be temporarily frozen. The Center wants this system to be implemented uniformly in the entire country. If you become a victim of a digital scam, immediately call the 1930 helpline or file a complaint on cybercrime.gov.in. According to experts, the first hour of filing the complaint is the most important. Additionally, inform your bank immediately, stop the transaction and lock your card.
