Raipur, 28 April 2026/ Tendu leaf collection work is going on smoothly on a large scale. Amidst the misleading reports that collection has stopped at some places, the Forest Department has clarified that the procurement of tendu leaves is fully operational in the district and leaves are being taken continuously from the collectors.
Forest Divisional Officer of Sukma district, Mr. Akshay Bhosale informed that a total of 727 tendupatta farms are operating in the district. Of these, collection and procurement has started in about 350 farms, while this work will be started soon in the remaining centers also. Till now, more than 35 thousand standard bags of tendu leaves have been collected in the district. He told that in areas like Kistaram, Golapalli, Konta and Jagargunda, due to natural and geographical reasons tendupatta is ready late. Collection work will be started in these areas also within the next one week.
The objective of the forest department is to purchase good quality tendu leaves from as many collectors as possible and get them fair prices. This work is being done in a transparent and systematic manner under the public welfare schemes of the government, so that the income of villagers and forest dwellers can increase. The department also said that due to recent hailstorm and bad weather, the quality of leaves has been affected at some places. Such leaves have been separated as per rules, while procurement of good quality tendu leaves continues.
The Forest Department has again assured that the work of tendu leaf collection and procurement will continue with complete transparency and all eligible collectors will get its benefits.
