Belthangady: The bus stand in Belthangady, where hundreds of government buses arrive and depart daily, is in a poor and neglected condition. The construction of a new KSRTC bus stand in the town is progressing slowly and is unlikely to be completed this year.

At present, the existing bus stand can accommodate only around 10–15 passengers at a time. The area is filled with dust and appears to have not been cleaned or watered for a long time. Garbage is scattered across the premises, and old juice trays and gunny bags are piled up. The surroundings are unhygienic, and mosquito problems increase during the evening hours. It is also reported that some people use the bus stand as a resting place during the day.

Multiple issues reported

Passengers have raised several concerns regarding the condition of the bus stand:

  • There is no proper protection from heat, and the situation worsens during the rainy season.
  • The seating arrangements are rusted and dusty, and some seats may cause injuries.
  • There is no facility for drinking water, forcing passengers to buy water from nearby shops.
  • A large number of students and office-goers use the bus stand during morning and evening hours, but basic facilities are inadequate.
