During this period, there will be intense heat and strong sunlight for the entire nine days. This is also called the arrival of rainy season. According to religious belief, the Sun will enter Rohini Nakshatra in the Shukla Paksha of Jyeshtha month. After nine days of scorching heat, it rains very well.

How to keep yourself safe in Nautapa?

It is said that during Nautapa the temperature reaches more than 45 degrees. The Sun and the Earth are very close to each other. Therefore, heat wave also lasts longer. Due to this, it is very common to lack water in the body. In such a situation, it is most important to protect yourself from heat during these 9 days. For this you should follow these tips:

Avoid sunlight- Do not go out from 11 am to 4 pm. If you have to go, cover your head with an umbrella or cap.

Keep water with you- Always keep water with you. Keep drinking water continuously so that the body does not get dehydrated. Keep drinking coconut water, lemon water, ORS and buttermilk.

Eat light food- One should avoid eating heavy food during Nautapa. Do not eat fried things. Eat cucumber, watermelon and hydration fruits as much as possible.

Wear light clothes- You should wear light clothes during these nine days. Wear loose-fitting clothes made of cotton and khadi. Wear light colored clothes and keep the body cool.

Avoid heat wave- If you are going out of the house during Nautapa, do not leave on an empty stomach. One should not drink cold water immediately after coming from outside. Due to this the body temperature becomes uncontrolled.

Keep the house cool- During this time you should also keep your house cool. Keep windows and doors closed during the day. Open them only in the evening. Use cooler-fan and AC. You can put a khus curtain in the house. This also keeps the house cool.
