Even after retirement, government symbol was put on the car, department imposed fine on former DGP

In Kerala, a fine has been imposed on the retired Director General of Police (DGP) for violating the rules. Official sources said yesterday on Wednesday that former DGP Tomin J. The Motor Vehicles Department has imposed a fine of Rs 250 on Thachankari. He is accused of using the official insignia on his car even after retirement.

Sources said that the enforcement wing of the department took this action after instructions were issued by the Transport Commissioner. This matter came into limelight when Thachankari recently appeared in a court in Kottayam for the hearing of a case related to vigilance. During that time, an official emblem was found near the number plate of his car.

It was the driver's fault: Former DGP Thachankari

According to reports from television channels, when this was pointed out, an attempt was made to remove the symbol from the vehicle and it was immediately removed from there. Sources say that former DGP Thachankari has paid the fine.

Sources in the Motor Vehicles Department said that former DGP Thachankari claimed that it was the driver's fault and he was not traveling with any 'three-star' board on the car. Thachankari, who held the post of Director General of Police (DGP) in Kerala Police and had retired from police service about 3 years ago.
