A bizarre incident has surfaced from Uttar Pradesh's Sultanpur, where a poultry farmer has alleged that loud DJ music played during a wedding procession led to the death of 140 chickens.
The complaint was filed by Sabir Ali, who claimed that the incident occurred when a wedding procession passed in front of his poultry farm on the night of April 25. The procession belonged to the family of a local resident, Babban Vishwakarma, whose daughter was getting married. The baraat had arrived from Ram Bhadra Purwa in the Kudwar area and included a DJ system playing music at high volume.
According to Sabir Ali, the procession passed his farm around 9:30 PM, and the extremely loud music caused panic among the birds. He alleged that the chickens were unable to withstand the high-decibel noise, leading to the sudden death of 140 birds.
In his complaint to the police, Sabir described the sound as “extremely loud,” stating, “The noise was so intense that the chickens got frightened and died.”
Following the complaint, police registered a case against a DJ operator, Kavi Yadav, from Parsipur on the night of April 28. Authorities are currently investigating whether the sound system exceeded permissible noise limits at the time of the incident.
Officials are also examining other possible factors to determine whether loud noise alone caused the deaths. Experts note that intense sound waves can trigger severe stress in birds and animals, and in extreme cases, may even lead to cardiac arrest.
