Now there is good news for the people going to UAE. According to officials, a new service has been started for the visitors coming here. Visitors can open a digital bank account within minutes using the 'Tourist Identity' initiative. The Central Bank of the UAE (CBUAE), in collaboration with the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security (ICP) and Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank (ADCB), said that this service will allow non-resident visitors to open accounts quickly and securely through a completely digital process.
Earlier, people who were not residents of UAE and those who came there to visit could open certain types of UAE bank accounts, but this process required a lot of documents. Now this process has been transformed into an official digital identity-based model. Now through this facility you can open your bank account in just a few minutes. Officials said that the aim of this step is to promote financial inclusion and rapidly advance the digital payment ecosystem in the country, as well as reduce the dependence on cash transactions.
Saif Humaid Al Zahiri, Assistant Governor of Banking Operations and Support Services at CBUAE, said that this initiative allows people coming to the UAE to connect to the country's national payments ecosystem, which also includes the Jaiwan Card Scheme and instant payments platform Aani. He said that this initiative helps to increase the ease of doing business and provides people visiting the UAE with an integrated and secure banking experience as soon as they arrive there.
Major General Suhail Juma Al Khaili, Acting Director General of the Citizenship Department at ICP, said that the system enables many different sectors to serve people coming to the UAE seamlessly, using advanced identification technologies. Alaa Arikat, CEO of ADCB Group, said the bank's participation in this initiative reflects its efforts to link innovations in the banking sector with the UAE's tourism economy and further enhance the country's attractiveness as a global financial centre.
