Air Cooler Electricity Consumption: In the summer season, coolers are an economical option for people, but the question that often comes to the minds of people using coolers is that how much electricity does the cooler consume in a night? The answer to this question depends on many things like which cooler you use (type), secondly what is the motor capacity of the cooler and thirdly for how long do you use the cooler in a day? If you use the air cooler for 8 hours in a night, then how much electricity will the cooler consume in 8 hours daily, how much electricity will it cost monthly (units) and how much electricity will the cooler use in a month.
In the blog post on the official site of Orient Electric, information has been given that to calculate the Power Consumption, Power Consumption (kWh) = Wattage, multiply (×) Hours of Use, divide (÷) 1000. Orient Electric has also tried to explain by giving examples, the power consumption of 88 liter Ultimo Desert Air Cooler is 190W.
Suppose, if you run a cooler with power consumption of 190 watts for 8 hours in a night, then the cooler will consume 1.52kWh of power daily. According to this, the cooler will consume 45.6kWh of electricity in 30 days. If electricity is available in your area at the rate of Rs 5 per unit, then running a cooler with 190 watt power consumption for 1 month will cost only Rs 228.

If a cooler consuming 180 watts of power runs for 8 hours daily, it will consume 1.44kWh of electricity in a day and 43.2kWh in 30 days. According to this, if the rate is Rs 5 per unit in your area, then a cooler with power consumption of 180 watts will cost Rs 216 in electricity in 30 days.
