Lucknow: The sudden change in weather patterns has caused huge devastation in Uttar Pradesh. The strong storm, unseasonal rain and hailstorm that have been occurring for the last two days have not only disrupted normal life but have also given an unforgettable wound to many families. So far, 24 people have died due to lightning and weather- accidents in different parts of the state, while 15 people have been seriously injured. Apart from this, 16 cattle have also lost their lives in this disaster.

CM Yogi’s action: Compensation will be given within 24 hours

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has expressed deep sorrow over this natural disaster. Expressing his condolences to the families of the deceased, he has instructed the officials to carry out relief work on a war footing. The Chief Minister has clearly said that in case of human loss, animal loss and injured, the compensation amount should be distributed within 24 hours. He has warned that any kind of negligence in providing help to the victims will not be tolerated. The CM has asked the officials to remain on ‘alert mode’ and provide better treatment to the injured.

Farmers’ hard work ruined

While on one hand this rain has provided relief from the scorching heat, on the other hand it has become a disaster for the farmers. Intermittent rain and heavy hailstorm in many areas of the state since Wednesday have ruined crops. The crops standing and harvested in the fields have been submerged in water, causing huge financial losses to the farmers. In view of the plight of the farmers, the government has instructed the district administration to assess the loss and provide immediate relief to the affected farmers.

Political rhetoric amid disaster

Amidst this inclement weather, political temperature is also rising in the state. On one hand, while the government is busy in relief work, on the other hand, Akhilesh Yadav has hit back at Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s ‘chameleon’ statement by sharing a video. Akhilesh has cornered the government by reminding it of its rule. Apart from this, Om Prakash Rajbhar has also said things of relief regarding Panchayat elections and Pradhans. However, a large part of the state is currently trying to recover from the havoc of nature.
