New Delhi: Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) star Heinrich Klaasen has found himself in the centre of a controversy after he was spotted threatening a fan for trying to breach his family’s privacy. Klaasen is currently in India, playing for SRH in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026.

In a video that has gone viral on social media, Klaasen can be seen confronting a fan for filming him and his family. The South African cricketer appears visibly irritated in the clip, asking the fan not to take a photograph or film his family. He urges the individual to respect his privacy before threatening him with consequences.

“Listen to me very carefully. Don’t do it, OK. I said to you, no, please leave. Thank you very much, but don’t take a photo,” Klassen can be heard telling the fan in the video.

The SRH star further raises his voice as the fan refuses to cooperate and continues filming, his camera facing down. “If I turn around and you take a photo of me and my family, I promise you we’ll be on the floor. Ok, just turn around and walk away, please,” Klaasen tells the fan.

As the exchange continues, the fan moves away, but Klaasen remains firm in his warning, asking him not to try to film his family. “Oh, listen to me very carefully. Stop it. OK. I said to you, no photos. This is my family. OK. So put your camera away,” says the SRH star.

One guy was recording Klaasen despite him saying no then he went to him and said

“Don’t do it, If I turn around and see you clicking me and my family, I promise you’ll be on the floor next moment”

Why can’t they give them privacy at least when they’re with family🤷🏼‍♂️ pic.twitter.com/WL8oid0xqv

The video has once again raised concerns over the struggles cricketers face in India in terms of protecting their privacy when travelling across the country. Several such incidents have come to light during the IPL in the past. Recently, a female fan was widely criticised online after grabbing SRH star Abhishek Sharma’s hands, sparking a debate over players’ privacy and security.
