Opposition leader in West Bengal Suvendu Adhikari on Friday termed Trinamool Congress's allegations of EVM tampering in the strong room as "drama" and said that the ruling party has done this for publicity. Speaking to ANI, Suvendu Adhikari said that there is no need to give much importance to the allegations and said that TMC is “going out of power” in West Bengal.
He said, "This is all drama. There is no ground truth to it. They are doing this for publicity. They are going out of power. If TMC goes out, they will get more seats than required to form the government."
Let us tell you that TMC alleged that BJP election Commission “Opening of ballot boxes without the presence of any concerned party stakeholder,” he said, in “active connivance” with the party, adding, “This is murder of democracy in broad daylight.”
In a post on social site X, the party also shared a video, saying that “opening the ballot box” is a major election fraud. However, West Bengal Chief Electoral Officer Manoj Kumar Agarwal, in response to TMC's allegations, clarified that the EVM strong rooms are "safe and secure", and said there is no "controversy" in the incident. CCTV footage of all the 8 strong rooms there, out of which 7 are for postal ballot, is being telecasted.
He noticed some movement around 4 pm. As per the rules, all the political parties and all the candidates were informed by the RO (Returning Officer). They should have come here… After 4 pm, 3 candidates had come, and everything they saw was that the EVM strong rooms were sealed while the postal ballot strong rooms were open. Then they left.”
Aggarwal said, "There will be no law and order situation. Such things keep happening. The law and order situation is fine." He said, "The counting will be 100% clean, just like the elections were held. This development comes a day after the second and last phase of voting in West Bengal. A record 92.67% voting took place in the state. The counting of votes will take place on May 4.
