The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced that it will take necessary actions against teams that breach regulations during the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026, as stated by BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia on Saturday.

The Rajasthan Royals (RR) faced scrutiny on two occasions this season. The first incident involved team manager Ravinder Singh Bhinder, who was seen using a mobile phone near the dugout during a match against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru at Barsapara Cricket Stadium on April 10. The second incident occurred when captain Riyan Parag was caught vaping in the dressing room. Bhinder received a fine of Rs 1 lakh, while Parag was penalized with a 25% deduction from his match fee and a demerit point for his actions during the IPL match against Punjab Kings (PBKS).

BCCI's Warning on Compliance

Saikia emphasized the BCCI's commitment to maintaining the integrity of the IPL, stating, "We are exploring additional measures to address teams that violate the norms." He made these comments during the announcement of India's squad for the Women's T20 World Cup 2026 in Mumbai. He further noted, "We will take action based on the various terms, conditions, and protocols regarding team conduct in the IPL."

Bhinder explained to the BCCI's anti-corruption unit that the violation was unintentional and expressed regret before receiving his fine.

Rajasthan Royals' Response to Controversies

Kumar Sangakkara, head coach of the Rajasthan Royals, addressed the recent controversies surrounding the franchise, asserting that the issues have been resolved. He highlighted the team's focus on responsibility, discipline, and adherence to core values. "Any controversy reflects negatively on the team. However, both incidents have been addressed by the BCCI and the franchise. We strive to maintain a positive and healthy culture, reminding players to uphold their responsibilities to the franchise and our values," Sangakkara stated.
