Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat on Saturday said that despite foreign invasions and difficult conditions, tribal and scheduled caste communities have preserved the identity and soul of India. Bhagwat stressed that it is necessary to recognize the contribution of these communities and fully include them in mainstream development.
Actually Mohan Bhagwat had attended the Karmayogi Awards ceremony in Mumbai on Saturday. Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari was also present in this program. Addressing the program, Bhagwat said that the purpose of human life is to give something back to the society. He said that a person works and spends for the welfare of the society, not as a favor, but as a duty.
He said, 'Serving others leads to our own development. By helping others move forward, we improve ourselves and become a better person. This principle is the core value of this Indian land, commonly known as Hindu society. He said, 'This is the permanent ethos of the society, which has persisted for thousands. Due to various reasons, some due to our indifference and some due to foreign invasions, those who preserved this ethos had to pay a heavy price.
The RSS chief further said that the foreign invaders found that this ideology, this value system of the society is its soul and the key to keeping it alive. Therefore he ensured that those who attempted to preserve this spirit would be uprooted and would have to face severe hardships. He said that despite foreign invasions and hardships, tribal communities and scheduled castes have preserved the identity and soul of the country.
He said 'despite such adverse circumstances, the core identity of the country remained intact among the tribal communities and people belonging to the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe groups'. Bhagwat stressed the need to integrate them into the mainstream development process, while also ensuring that they get equal access to services and facilities.
Referring to global developments, Bhagwat said that at present the world is moving forward shakily and is struggling to maintain balance. He stressed that India can emerge as a stable power. He said that the country should not only protect its interests but should also support the world. He said 'the world should see that the country is not only solving its own sorrows and pains but also helping the world deal with similar issues'.
The RSS chief said that service to the society is not a favor but a duty which contributes to the individual's self-development. He said that helping others to move forward also uplifts the individual and strengthens the collective fabric of the society. Bhagwat said that the so-called educated and developed classes have moved away from these communities with time. He stressed the need to bridge this gap. He said that the real identity of the society lies in these traditions and values, which have been preserved by the tribal and Dalit communities. He warned that if society loses its identity, its existence may also be in danger.
