For the Women’s T20 World Cup The Indian team will be announced on Saturday. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will hold a meeting in Mumbai to select the team. Many dilemmas will arise before the selection committee before the selection process. The 10th edition of the Women’s T20 World Cup will be played in England from June 12 to July 5. India’s focus will be on the title.
The ODI World Cup winners are expected to clinch their second ICC title. The selection committee will meet at the BCCI headquarters and the squad will be announced at a press conference. Expectations are high from the Harmanpreet Kaur-led team, as India won the Women’s ODI World Cup 2025 on home soil. India beat Sri Lanka 5-0 at home in December last year. They then beat England and Australia 2-1 at home. However, the team lost 1-4 on the tour of South Africa last month.
The team management gave several players a chance for the tour of South Africa, rested vice-captain Smriti Mandhana and made several new options available. However, bowling is a concern for the team. While most of the players in the squad are considered certain, the Amita Sharma-led selection committee will have to decide on some key spots to finalize the 15-man squad.

Will these faces stand a chance?
Hosts England have selected three left-arm spinners for the 12-team tournament.
Saturday’s meeting will not be limited to the T20 World Cup team. The squad will also be selected for the three-match T20 International series against England before the World Cup and the one-off Test at Lord’s from July 10 to 13. Additionally, India ‘A’ will be selected for three ODIs and three T20Is against England ‘A’.
What are the options before India?
If India decide to opt for an additional fast bowler for the World Cup, Nandini Sharma, who has excelled for Delhi Capitals in WPL 2026, can be considered. The selection of Nandini Sharma and Kashvi Gautam, who made their T20 International debut on the tour of South Africa, will also be interesting, especially with Amanjot Kaur likely to be out of the squad due to a back injury. The selection committee could pick a 17- or 18-man squad for the T20I series against England between May 8 and June 2, which could open the door for Vaishnavi Sharma as well. However, there is fierce competition in the squad, so players like Radha Yadav, Sneh Rana and G Kamalini are in danger of being left out of the World Cup squad.

Performance by Radha Yadav
of Radha Yadav The performance is particularly interesting. She took six wickets in India’s T20I series in England last year, but has not played in the format since then. Radha performed well for RCB in WPL 2026, scoring 114 runs in nine matches, including a knock of 66. However, she took only two wickets. Subsequently, Radha scored 75 runs and took 10 wickets while leading the India ‘A’ team in the Women’s Asia Cup Rising Stars tournament in Bangkok.
