King Charles has revealed that he may return to a hobby he first tried when he was just eight years old. His Majesty arrived in the US earlier this week for his historic state visit, alongside Queen Camilla.

Despite the long flight, Their Majesties had a busy itinerary, which included time with US President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump. On the first day of their visit, the royal couple spent time at a garden party hosted at the Washington residence of the UK's ambassador, Sir Christian Turner.

At the garden party, King Charles and Queen Camilla were introduced to a number of people, with around 650 guests present.

One guest the King spent time with was UK Olympic diver Tom Daley, who now lives in the US with his family.

In a chat with the Olympian, King Charles revealed that he tried knitting when he was younger, but is considering returning to the popular hobby.

As reported by Hello! Magazine, Tom, known for being an avid knitter, said the King spoke about having tried the hobby many years ago.

Tom said: "He (King Charles) said he tried knitting when he was eight and he wasn't very good."

He continued: "But he said he might pick it back up - he knows it's very good for mental health.

"I want to try and get it back into the school curriculum, and maybe he can help me do that."

King Charles has a busy few days ahead, with the US state visit seeing Their Majesties spend time in Washington DC, New York and Virginia.

At the end of the state visit on April 30, the King will fly to Bermuda alone for two days of engagements. Queen Camilla will not accompany her husband to Bermuda.
