West Bengal Election Results: The contest on Moyna Constituency remained interesting in the West Bengal Assembly elections. In the initial trends, Bharatiya Janata Party candidate and Sourav Ganguly’s favorite former Indian cricketer Ashoke Dinda seemed to be getting the lead, while All India Trinamool Congress (TMC) candidate Chandan Mondal was trailing behind him. However, the election results have now come out and Ashok Dinda seems to be becoming MLA again.
According to the latest election data, Ashok Dinda has got 12766 votes, while Chandan Mandal has got 110925 votes. In this way the BJP candidate took the lead by about 16241 votes. However, Moyna seat was in the news this time because Ashok Dinda, who made his mark with his fast bowling on the cricket field, is again seen in this political contest. Considering his popularity, BJP has fielded him. On the other hand, Trinamool Congress has expressed confidence in Chandan Mandal and tried to give a tough fight. But he failed.
Ashok Dinda was born in the year 1984. He was a former right-arm fast-medium bowler from India who is known for his long run-up and excellent performances in domestic cricket. He represented Bengal for over a decade and took 12 wickets in 13 ODIs and 17 wickets in 9 T20 Internationals for India between 2009 and 2013. However, his career did not last very long. His best T20 International performance was 4/19 against Sri Lanka in 2012.
In domestic cricket, Dinda established himself among the best fast bowlers in the state by taking 339 wickets for Bengal in the Ranji Trophy, while he took more than 400 wickets in his first class career. In the Indian Premier League, he took 69 wickets in 78 matches while playing for teams like Kolkata Knight Riders, Delhi Daredevils, Pune Warriors India and Rising Pune Supergiant.
