The medical entrance examination, NEET UG (NEET UG 2026), was conducted today—May 3, 2026—across 552 cities nationwide and at 14 international centers. The examination was held on a single day, in a single shift, from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM. Following the conclusion of the exam, feedback was gathered from students, and several coaching centers conducted a comprehensive analysis of the paper. Consequently, you can assess the difficulty level of the paper here.
**Student Reactions**
Based on interactions with students after the exam, the overall difficulty level of the paper was perceived as moderate. While some students found the Physics section challenging, others felt the Chemistry section was the most difficult. Overall, students expressed optimism regarding their performance in the exam. The Chemistry section was described as ranging from easy to moderate in difficulty. The question paper also included several questions drawn directly from the NCERT syllabus. Sections A and B featured an equal distribution of questions across Organic, Inorganic, and Physical Chemistry. The Zoology section was generally easy to moderate, though it did contain a few challenging questions. All questions in the paper were strictly based on the syllabus prescribed for the 11th and 12th grades.
**Exam Pattern**
It is worth noting that there were no changes made to the NEET UG exam pattern this year either. The question paper carries a total weightage of 720 marks. The paper consists of four distinct sections: Physics, Chemistry, Zoology, and Botany. In each section, students are required to attempt 35 questions from Section A, while in Section B, they must attempt 10 out of the 15 provided questions. Four marks are allotted for every correct answer. The NTA has also implemented a negative marking scheme for this examination; for every incorrect answer, one-fourth of the marks—specifically, 1 mark—will be deducted.
**Answer Key to be Available Soon**
Following the conclusion of the examination, the NTA is expected to release the official answer key shortly. By cross-referencing their responses with the answer key, students will be able to estimate their probable scores and anticipate their results. During the matching of these questions and answers, if any student is not satisfied with any of the provided answers, they will be able to register their objections within the specified dates.
