Bidar: A major accident was narrowly avoided after a gas pipeline leakage led to a massive fire in Jail Colony of the city on Tuesday (May 5). The incident occurred in the early hours of the morning, causing panic among residents.

Flames reportedly rose to a significant height following the leak, triggering alarm in the residential area. Local residents expressed strong anger, alleging that the helpline was not functioning properly and questioning the response of the concerned authorities.

Fire and emergency services personnel rushed to the spot and managed to bring the fire under control. However, residents said that had the response been delayed, the incident could have resulted in a serious disaster.

Even after extinguishing the fire, officials reportedly struggled to contain the gas leakage, according to sources.

Residents have also accused negligence in maintenance and demanded that an FIR be filed against the gas company responsible for the pipeline, citing safety lapses and inadequate emergency response.
