Bobby Deol's Bold Move in 'Bandar'

Bobby Deol is making a name for himself by selecting unique and challenging roles in his second innings in the film industry. However, he initially hesitated to take on the role in Anurag Kashyap's film 'Bandar', a crime thriller where he portrays a television star accused of rape by his ex-girlfriend. This dark and serious character made Bobby question his ability to perform the role effectively.

According to reports, Bobby sought advice from his family regarding this decision. They also found the role to be quite different and risky, but his father, Dharmendra, encouraged him to take the plunge. He reminded Bobby of his own experiences in offbeat films like 'Satyakam', 'Anupama', and 'Dillagi', urging him not to shy away from new challenges and to seize the opportunity.

After receiving his father's advice, Bobby quickly agreed to participate in the film. In recent years, he has re-established himself as a strong actor through projects like 'Ashram', 'Animal', and others.

Bobby considers his father, Dharmendra, to be his greatest inspiration. He recently became emotional while accepting a Lifetime Achievement Award for his father at a screen awards show, expressing that the love he has received in the industry is largely due to his father's influence.

Regarding 'Bandar', Bobby stated that it is one of the most distinct characters of his career. He acknowledged that he often gets accustomed to larger-than-life heroic roles, but Anurag Kashyap has drawn out a different kind of performance from him in this film.

'Bandar' premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival and is set to release in India on June 5. The film features a talented cast including Sanya Malhotra, Saba Azad, Sapna Pabbi, Indrajit Sukumar, and Joju George.
