Bengaluru weather forecast: Rain, thunderstorms to lash city till May 8; light showers likely over weekend

Bengaluru: Residents of Bengaluru should brace for the continued spell of unstable weather today (May 6) as rain, thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds are expected across the city, according to the latest IMD forecast.

The weather department has predicted rain activity to continue over the coming days, offering relief from rising temperatures but also increasing the chances of traffic disruptions and waterlogging in low-lying areas.

Bengaluru weather today

Bengaluru is expected to record a maximum temperature of 34 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 22 degrees Celsius on Wednesday.

The forecast indicates thunderstorms accompanied by rain, with gusty winds reaching speeds of 30 to 40 kmph.

Humidity levels are expected to remain moderate, with moisture build-up likely to trigger thunderstorm activity during the day and evening hours.

The IMD has issued a yellow alert in the city.

Past 24-hour weather

Over the last 24 hours, the city recorded a maximum temperature of 32.6 degrees Celsius, which is 1.7 degrees Celsius below normal, while the minimum temperature stood at 23.5 degrees Celsius, 1.2 degrees Celsius above normal.

Humidity levels stood at 96 per cent in the evening and 69 per cent in the morning, indicating significant atmospheric moisture.

The IMD forecast suggests Bengaluru will continue to experience thunderstorms with rain till May 8.

These spells are likely to be accompanied by lightning and gusty winds, particularly during late afternoon and evening hours.

Residents have been advised to remain cautious while commuting, especially during peak traffic hours.

From May 9 to May 11, weather conditions are expected to become relatively calmer.

The city is likely to witness generally cloudy skies with light rain, while temperatures are expected to hover around 35 degrees Celsius during the day and 23 degrees Celsius at night.

The yellow alert has been issued till May 8.
