Prayagraj. A big initiative is being taken to get rid of the problem of increasing traffic pressure and jam in Prayagraj, UP. A plan has been prepared to construct flyovers at seven major places in the city, which is expected to provide great relief to the common people as well as the pilgrims.

Flyovers will be built at seven places

Major intersections and areas of the city that have been included under the scheme include Maharshi Bhardwaj Square, Teliarganj, Medical College Square, Myohal, Lakshmi Talkies, Mundera, Leprosy Naini and Civil Lines Hanuman Mandir Square. Construction of flyovers at these places will reduce traffic pressure on the busy routes of the city.

Access to Sangam will be easy

The proposed flyovers at Maharishi Bhardwaj intersection and Teliarganj area will especially ease the road to Sangam. With this, devotees coming from Lucknow and Ayodhya will be able to reach the Sangam area directly without getting stuck in the jam.

Relief to other parts of the city also

Construction of flyovers on major routes from Laxmi Talkies to Jahaz intersection, Myohal to Public Service Commission intersection on Stanley Road and Civil Lines will provide relief from the jam in Kachari, Katra and bus stand areas. At the same time, construction of a small flyover at the Medical College intersection will also provide convenience to the people coming and going from Kanpur, Fatehpur and Kaushambi.

Long flyover proposed in Mundera

There is a plan to build a one and a half to two kilometer long flyover in the Mundera area, which will go beyond the Chaufatka flyover. People have to struggle for hours due to frequent traffic jams in this area, hence this project is considered very important.

Cost and timeline of this project

The entire project is estimated to cost around Rs 400 crore. The proposal will be sent to the government by the end of June. After getting the approval, construction work will start and it is targeted to be completed in about three years. If everything goes as per plan, all the flyovers could be ready by the year 2030.
