Orange Cap and Purple Cap Holder List in IPL 2026: rob Peter to pay Paul. This is what is going on right now in IPL 2026. There is just a race going on and what Heinrich Klaasen has done in that race is amazing. What he has done is unmatched. In just one and a half hours, Clason won the Orange Cap, which till now was dominated only by the openers of one or the other team. But Heinrich Klaasen remained a middle order batsman, who proved to be no less. He is now the new number one in the orange cap race.

Clason won the Orange Cap within one and a half hours

Sunrisers Hyderabad batsman Heinrich Klaasen won the Orange Cap within the first one and a half hour of the match against Punjab Kings. The first ball of the match was bowled at 7:30 pm on 6th May. The orange cap was on the head of Delhi Capitals batsman KL Rahul. Within the next half an hour, Abhishek Sharma once again became the owner of the Orange Cap for scoring the most runs. But, by 8:54 pm, Heinrich Klaasen had won that Orange Cap.

How did the orange cap go from here to there during the SRH vs PBKS match?

When the SRH vs PBKS match started on 6th May, Delhi's KL Rahul was already entitled to it with 445 runs. But, by 8 o'clock, SRH's Abhishek Sharma was 30 runs ahead of KL Rahul and wore the orange cap on his head. Abhishek Sharma scored 35 runs in 13 balls in the match against Punjab Kings, which gave him the advantage.

Within the next hour, the cap again changed its contender and went from Abhishek's head to Heinrich Klaasen's head, who became the highest run-scorer in IPL 2026 by playing an inning of 69 runs on 43 balls in the match against Punjab Kings. Heinrich Klaasen has become the new owner of the Orange Cap with 494 runs.

Not much turmoil in the Purple Cap race

There has not been as much turmoil in the Purple Cap race as was seen in the Orange Cap race. There was no impact of the SRH vs PBKS match on the Purple Cap. Like before, it is still on the head of Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who has taken 17 wickets in the 10 matches played so far.
