Bollywood actor Shahid Kapoor is set to join forces with Badhaai Ho and Maidaan director Amit Sharma for a comedy drama. The upcoming film is adapted from an Italian film, Husband & Wife. Keep reading to learn more about Shahid’s next:

After Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya, Shahid Kapoor is looking at another comedy drama with a sci-fi twist. Helmed by Amit Sharma, reports of Shahid’s upcoming film surfaced in February this year. As the movie prepares to move ahead, buzz suggests that it is a remake of the Italian movie Husband & Wife.

Originally titled Moglie e marito, the sci-fi romantic comedy follows a married couple on the brink of a divorce. They unexpectedly swap bodies in a failed scientific experiment. The phenomenon forces them to experience each other’s daily routines, which gives them a much-needed reality check and a deeper understanding of one another.

Directed by Simone Godano and starring Pierfrancesco Favino and Kasia Smutniak in key roles, the film garnered positive reviews, earning $2.84 million worldwide at the box office. Shahid's remake will go on floors by late 2026.

Apart from Shahid, no official updates about the film’s female lead have surfaced. Rumours said that Rashmika Mandanna was in talks to star opposite him but due to scheduling conflicts, she did not come onboard.

Reports also said that Shahid’s Kabir Singh co-star may Kiara Advani may reunite with him, but it’s not finalised yet.

Besides Kiara, Janhvi Kapoor is also in running for the female lead reportedly. If it pans out, it will mark her full-fledge debut collaboration with Kapoor. Interestingly, Janhvi had a cameo in Shahid’s 2024 sci-fi romantic comedy Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya as she appears in the climax scene.

The upcoming film plays on the similar concept as Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya. Starring Kriti Sanon opposite Shahid, the movie was based on a human-robot love story. In the upcoming film, the plot is based on a marital love story with a sci-fi element at the core.

Interestingly, Maddock Films is already developing a sequel to Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya just as Shahid’s film moves ahead.
