The Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) finally celebrated a win after a tough stretch of seven matches, taking down the defending champions, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), by nine runs in a rain-affected showdown at the Ekana International Stadium during Match 50 of the 2026 Indian Premier League (IPL).
LSG batted first and put up an impressive score of 209 in just 19 overs, largely thanks to a stunning century from Mitchell Marsh. The Australian opener smashed 111 runs at a strike rate of 198.21, ensuring his team had a solid total to defend. The hosts also benefited from a quick-fire 32 runs off just 10 balls from their captain, Rishabh Pant, which helped them cross the 200 mark and set a formidable challenge for RCB.
However, the challenge proved too steep for the Royal Challengers, who fell short by nine runs against the revised target. Rajat Patidar did his best to keep RCB in the game after the early dismissals of Virat Kohli and Jacob Bethell, scoring 61 runs, but it just wasn’t enough. Prince Yadav stood out with the ball, claiming three wickets while maintaining an economy rate of 8.20.
As is typical in IPL matches, the clash between LSG and RCB saw both teams breaking records and players hitting personal milestones. Marsh’s century allowed him to reach several significant achievements. On the flip side, not all milestones were positive, as Kohli’s duck made headlines across the cricketing world.
