Royal Challengers Bengaluru played against Lucknow Super Giants at the Ekana Cricket Stadium, but faced a narrow defeat by 9 runs. The match was rain-affected, but still, RCB had to chase a massive target of 209 runs. For LSG, this solid total was powered by Mitchell Marsh, who scored a dashing century and further went on to register 111 runs off 56 balls.

It was a very difficult challenge for RCB’s bowlers as Marsh came in with a very attacking mindset. Then batting in the second innings, RCB players gave their best to reach the score but fell short by just 9 runs.

Devdutt Padikkal (34), Rajat Patidar (61), and Tim David (40) gave their valuable contributions, but the LSG’s bowling lineup remained dominant in front of the table toppers.

After the match, Rajat Patidar reflected on the loss and mentioned one specific mistake that cost RCB the match. He further applauded his team's effort and also Mitchell Marsh’s magnificent batting.

“We were pretty sure how to go about the target. The boys played well, and the way we stretched this game, just one or two shots behind. It was a really good batting track. Was coming nicely on the bat. Difficult to analyse just after the game, need some time to analyse it. We have four games more, just taking one game at a time, one step at a time. Mitchell Marsh was beautiful, the way he played. And especially in the power play, he kept us under pressure. I was confused about the bowlers – who should I bowl to Mitchell Marsh just after the power play? But I think the way he played, I think that was a tremendous inning. The way we played, that was really good intent shown by all batsmen. Everyone is looking confident and in a great state of mind.”
