CBI has further tightened the noose on the companies of Reliance ADA Group led by Anil Ambani. On Saturday, the investigating agency simultaneously raided 17 locations in Mumbai. This action has been taken in cases related to alleged bank fraud and fund diversion.
This action of CBI has been taken in cases related to three companies of Reliance Group, Reliance Telecom Limited, Reliance Commercial Finance Limited and Reliance Home Finance Limited. The investigating agency suspects that the money taken from the bank was transferred to another place.
According to CBI, the raids were conducted in the houses of the directors of the companies and the offices of the intermediary companies whose accounts were used for fund diversion. During the action, the agency has recovered many important documents and financial records.
Investigation has also revealed that many intermediary companies were operating from the same address. Due to this, CBI's suspicion of network of fake companies and suspicious transactions has deepened.
CBI said that so far seven cases have been registered against Anil Ambani group on the basis of complaints from public sector banks and Life Insurance Corporation of India i.e. LIC. In these cases, a loss of about Rs 27,337 crore has been estimated.
Even before this, CBI had conducted search operations at 14 places in these cases. During the investigation, two senior officials of Reliance Communications, D. Vishwanath and Anil Kalya, were arrested on 20 April 2026. The agency alleges that both were playing an important role in managing banking operations and utilization of funds. At present both are in judicial custody.
