Today, Joseph Vijay, the founder of the Tamilga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK), will officially assume the role of Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu. The oath-taking ceremony is set to take place at 10 AM at the Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium, with Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar administering the oath.

This event marks a significant milestone as it will be the first time a non-Dravidian party forms the government in the state, signaling the end of the traditional dominance held by the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) and the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK).

In a related announcement, the Lok Bhavan has confirmed that Governor Arlekar has approved Vijay's recommendation for the appointment of nine ministers. Among the new cabinet members is a female minister, S. Keertana. The statement noted, 'Joseph Vijay, designated as Chief Minister, had recommended the appointment of nine individuals as ministers on May 9, and the Governor has sanctioned this recommendation.'

It is also anticipated that Arlekar will administer the oath to Vijay's new cabinet, which includes Bussy N. Anand, Adhav Arjun, K.A. Sengottaiyan, S. Keertana, K.G. Arunraj, P. Venkataramanan, C.T.R. Nirmal Kumar, A. Rajmohan, and K.T. Prabhu. Vijay is expected to prove his majority in the assembly through a confidence vote by May 13 or earlier.
