Who Wants To Be A Millionaire winner Andrew Fanko has revealed his instant response to scooping £500,000 on this week's instalment of the ITV quiz show.
Fronted by Jeremy Clarkson, the legendary programme tests trivia buffs with a succession of progressively challenging questions for the opportunity to leave as a millionaire.
After breezing through the opening 14 questions, Andrew had to confess he was baffled by the final round which required him to name an EGOT winner - somebody who has secured an Emmy, a Grammy, an Oscar, and a Tony.
Presented with the choices of Lin-Manuel Miranda, Cher, Andrew Lloyd Webber, and Bette Midler, Andrew opted to ask the audience, whose answers were divided across all options.
The contestant disclosed he was inclined towards Lin-Manuel Miranda, the performer and composer renowned for his smash-hit musical Hamilton, but it was actually Andrew Lloyd Webber who would have secured Andrew the programme's jackpot, reports Leicestershire Live.
Speaking exclusively to Reach and other press after claiming half a million pounds, Market Harborough resident Andrew disclosed he and his wife were "shaking" in the studio.
"They sort of ushered us into a room, just to have a couple of minutes to ourselves and take it all in," he recalled. "And we were sort of shaking a bit, to be honest, with the magnitude of it all.
"It was really nice to have that time to ourselves, just for five minutes to gather our thoughts and try to let it sink in a bit. Then we went back to the hotel and allowed ourselves a glass of fizz."
Andrew disclosed that his wife Frankie is equally passionate about quizzing, and the pair first connected after discovering they were both approaching their regular pub quiz nights with considerably more dedication than their fellow teammates.
When questioned whether having Frankie watching from the audience created extra pressure, Andrew confessed: "Yes, it was. Because she's such a great quizzer herself, yeah it really was.
"The main pressure I felt was on the half a million pound question, the Agatha Christie question. She is a massive Agatha Christie fan so I could feel the eyes burning in the back of her head.
"I knew that she would know it in a heartbeat but I had to think about it quite a lot before I was confident enough to go for it."
During the recording, Andrew also explained his decision not to continue in just six words.
"I'll give other people a chance," he said, stepping away from the chair to make way for the next contestant, Will Hughes, who took his place after securing Fastest Finger First. Jeremy was delighted for the quizzer, describing him as a "great and worthy winner".
Who Wants To Be A Millionaire airs Sundays at 7pm on ITV and can be streamed on ITVX.
