The BAFTA Awards tonight featured some emotional moments from the winners, including Martin Lewis.
The ITV star and founder of Money Saving Expert was honoured with a BAFTA Special Award, which was presented to him by Richard Osman during the BBC broadcast.
Martin kicked off his speech with a joke, saying: "Yes, a BAFTA, mainly for an ITV show that's just a PowerPoint presentation with a Q&A afterwards."
He then went on to argue that TV "doesn't have to be format driven", adding: "People will embrace something actionable, something real, something that helps, and they will even embrace complexity if we make it worth it.
"Now as this award was preannounced..." he began, before choking up as he continued: "I read this on Thursday... Hold yourself together.
"42 years to the day that we suddenly lost my mum just before I was 12. My childhood was over. For six years, barring school, I barely left the house. And now I'm picking up a BAFTA."
As he was met with applause, he went on: "So to all of you out there struggling with your own demons, know this. Life can be transformed. It can get better. And if you'd told that broken, scared boy that I'd proudly be a campaigning journalist, his jaw would have dropped.
"So I dedicate this to consumer journalism, where I found the fire."
He wrapped up the speech by saying: "And now with tears in my eyes, sadly, it's time for this nerd to party."
The 2026 TV BAFTA Awards are well underway tonight, with comedian and Taskmaster icon Greg Davies hosting the event.
The BBC show, which took place at London's Royal Festival Hall on Sunday 10 May, has seen a lot of early wins for the cast of Adolescence, which won Best Limited Drama.
Owen Cooper picked up his award for Best Supporting Actor in the Netflix drama series, while Christine Tremarco won Best Supporting Actress.
Meanwhile, The Celebrity Traitors has also started off strong, picking up the Best Reality Award, and Prime Video's Last One Laughing scooped up the award for Best Entertainment show.
The BAFTAs are live on BBC One and will be available to stream on BBC iPlayer.
