NEET UG 2026 Paper Leak: A fresh uproar has erupted once again in Rajasthan regarding the country's largest medical entrance examination, NEET UG. This time, the controversy centers on Sikar, where claims have surfaced that a 'guess paper' went viral just before the examination. It is even alleged that approximately 125 questions from this guess paper matched the actual exam paper verbatim. The question now arises: was this merely a coincidence, or a new, 'smart' method of leaking the paper?
Sikar Hostels on the SOG's Radar
The Special Operations Group (SOG) and the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) of the Rajasthan Police have taken charge of the investigation into this matter. According to sources, a series of intensive raids and interrogations is currently underway across several hostels in Sikar. The police are meticulously scrutinizing students' mobile phones, WhatsApp chats, and digital records.
The investigation has revealed that this guess paper reached certain students on the night of May 2—just one day before the examination scheduled for May 3. Astonishingly, numerous questions in this paper—specifically in Physics and Biology—were identical to those subsequently asked in the examination the following day.
When the Police Failed to Act, the NTA Was Emailed
Remarkably, on the very day of the examination, some students had lodged a complaint regarding this matter at the Udyog Nagar Police Station in Sikar. However, it is alleged that the local police failed to take the complaint seriously. Left with no other recourse, the students sent an email—accompanied by supporting evidence—to the National Testing Agency (NTA). Upon cross-verifying the facts, the NTA deemed the matter to be of grave concern and immediately dispatched a letter to the Director General of Police (DGP) of Rajasthan, ordering a formal investigation.
The future of hundreds of thousands of students currently hangs in the balance. If the investigation confirms the allegations of malpractice, it will once again cast serious doubts upon the transparency and integrity of the examination process. In response to this situation, the NTA has issued a press release to present its official stance:
What Transpired on the Day of the Exam?
According to the NTA, the examination conducted on May 3, 2026, was carried out and concluded entirely under stringent security protocols. The agency stated that high-tech security measures were implemented:
GPS Tracking: Vehicles transporting the question papers were equipped with GPS devices, and the papers themselves bore unique watermarks.
AI Monitoring: Surveillance at examination centers was conducted using AI-assisted CCTV systems.
Biometrics and Jammers: Every student underwent biometric verification, and 5G jammers were deployed.
The NTA asserts that, on the day of the examination, the procedures at the ground level proceeded exactly as planned.
**A Timeline of Events**
The controversy erupted four days after the examination. On the evening of May 7, the NTA received its first inputs regarding irregularities.
May 8: The NTA forwarded this information to central investigative agencies.
Legal Action: Subsequently, the police and investigative agencies took swift action, resulting in several arrests.
Current Status: The matter is currently under investigation, and the NTA is fully cooperating by providing data and technical assistance to the investigative agencies.
**The Future of Students and the Promise of Transparency**
The primary concern among students is whether their hard work will go in vain. In response, the NTA has categorically stated that the efforts and credibility of the vast majority of honest students will remain uncompromised. The agency has clarified that it is not preempting the outcome of the investigation; rather, future decisions will be taken in a transparent manner, based on whatever facts emerge.
The agency has appealed to students and parents to exercise restraint and allow the investigative agencies to carry out their work. Further steps will be taken only after consultation with the Ministry of Education.
