GT vs SRH: Gujarat reached top with 16 points, defeated Hyderabad by 82 runs

The 56th match of IPL 2026 was quite low-scoring. The match was played between Gujarat Titans (GT) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on May 12 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. In the match, Gujarat’s batsmen were seen struggling to score runs but the team’s bowlers performed brilliantly and completely turned the match. Thanks to the strong work of the bowlers, Gujarat won the match by 82 runs.

 

After winning the 56th match of IPL 2026, Gujarat Titans have now reached number-1 in the points table with 16 points. The team has won 8 out of 12 matches, while facing defeat in 4. Gujarat’s net run rate is now +0.551.

 

 

There was no change in the position of Sunrisers Hyderabad but the net run rate of the team has declined. Hyderabad has occupied the third position with 7 wins and 5 losses in 12 matches. The team has 14 points in its account and its net run rate is +0.331.

Gujarat Titans innings

After losing the toss, Gujarat was asked to bat first and Hyderabad bowlers proved this decision absolutely correct in the beginning. In the powerplay, Gujarat team could score only 34 runs and its 2 wickets also fell. However, after this the team made a comeback in the middle overs. Between 7 and 15 overs, Gujarat added 80 runs by losing only 1 wicket. Even in the last overs, the batsmen scored runs quickly. Between 16 and 20 overs, the team scored 54 runs after losing 2 wickets. Due to this strong finish, Gujarat Titans scored a respectable score of 168 runs after losing 5 wickets in 20 overs.

Sai Sudarshan scored the highest score of 61 runs for Gujarat Titans. Washington Sundar also batted brilliantly and scored 50 runs. Apart from these, Nishant Sindhu played an inning of 22 runs. On the other hand, for Hyderabad, Prafulla Hinge and Saqib Hussain took 2-2 wickets, while Pat Cummins got 1 success.

 

Hyderabad innings

Sunrisers Hyderabad had a very bad start in this match. The team lost 4 wickets in the powerplay itself and could score only 34 runs. Even after this, SRH batsmen could not recover and Gujarat bowlers continued to maintain pressure. Between 7th to 15th over, Hyderabad lost 6 wickets and could add only 52 runs. The situation was such that the team could not even play the full 20 overs. The entire SRH team collapsed for just 86 runs in 14.5 overs. Gujarat Titans won the match by 82 runs on the basis of excellent bowling.

 

No batsman of Sunrisers Hyderabad could touch the 20-run mark. For the team, captain Pat Cummins scored the maximum 19 runs, while Salil Arora played an inning of 16 runs. On the other hand, Gujarat bowlers performed brilliantly. Kagiso Rabada and Jason Holder took 3-3 wickets. Whereas Prasidh Krishna dismissed 2 batsmen. Mohammad Siraj and Rashid Khan also got 1-1 wicket.
