In New Delhi, the International School Sports Organisation (ISSO) has entered into a significant Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the DP World Professional Golf Tour of India (DP World PGTI), which oversees men's professional golf in the country. This collaboration aims to foster and advance golf within the international school framework in India.
The initiative is designed to establish structured pathways for students interested in golf through various programs focused on awareness, grassroots involvement, talent scouting, and exposure to professional golfing standards, as outlined in a recent press release.
As part of this partnership, DP World PGTI will provide ISSO schools with essential resources, including technical guidance, certified coaches, professional golfers, and workshops that cover the fundamentals and etiquette of golf, alongside structured junior development programs.
Aakanksha Thapak, Director of ISSO, expressed, "Our commitment at ISSO is to cultivate meaningful sporting environments for students in international schools across India. Golf instills values such as discipline, patience, integrity, and focus, which extend beyond the sport itself. This collaboration with DP World PGTI aims to make golf more accessible to young learners, offering them structured opportunities to learn, compete, and develop."
Gaurav Dixit, Co-Director of ISSO, added, "We are dedicated to introducing students to sports that enhance character and expand opportunities beyond conventional routes. Our partnership with PGTI enables us to bring golf closer to young athletes in a structured and engaging way, ensuring they receive quality exposure and opportunities from an early age."
ISSO was founded with the goal of creating structured and globally aligned sporting opportunities for students. It is recognized by the International School Sport Federation (ISF) and is affiliated with the School Games Federation of India (SGFI), continuously working to strengthen its vision of developing globally aligned pathways for student-athletes in international curriculum schools.
Amandeep Johl, CEO of DP World PGTI, stated, "We are thrilled to collaborate with ISSO to enhance the grassroots golf ecosystem in India. Introducing golf at the school level is crucial for long-term growth and talent development. Through this partnership, we aspire to inspire more young students to embrace golf and take advantage of the numerous opportunities the sport provides."
The MoU signifies a mutual commitment between ISSO and DP World PGTI to cultivate a lasting sporting culture, promote broader participation in golf, and offer meaningful development opportunities for young athletes nationwide.
