Chennai Super Kings (CSK) players are continuously getting injured in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026. Match winners like Khaleel Ahmed and Ayush Mhatre have already been ruled out of IPL 2026 due to injury. Now CSK has suffered another major blow. The team’s pace bowling all-rounder Jamie Overton has suffered an injury to his right thigh.
CSK has issued a statement that Overton is scheduled to return to the United Kingdom (UK) for treatment of the injury. It is understood that it is difficult for him to return to India for IPL 2026.
Right-arm medium pacer Overton is the second highest wicket-taker for CSK in the current season. Till now he had taken 14 wickets in 10 matches at an average of 17.78. During this period his economy was 8.89. Overton also made valuable contributions with the bat whenever he got the chance. He scored 136 runs in 6 innings at an average of 34 and strike rate of 158.13. Overton was the player of the match in CSK’s last match. He played a key role in CSK’s victory by taking 3 wickets against Lucknow Super Giants on 11 May.
Before the news of Overton’s injury came out, CSK had signed Karnataka all-rounder McNeil Noronha as an injury replacement for Ramakrishna Ghosh. Ramakrishna Ghosh fractured his leg in his IPL debut match, due to which he had to be ruled out of the season.
CSK is continuously winning amidst the growing list of injured players. He is at fifth position in the table with 12 points in 11 matches. They will have to win at least 2 of their remaining 3 matches to make it to the playoffs. CSK has won the last 3 matches. After Overton’s injury, it now remains to be seen how the team is able to maintain its rhythm.
