Cannes 2026 has already delivered plenty of dramatic fashion moments, but Simone Ashley’s latest red carpet appearance easily ranks among the most unforgettable. The Bridgerton actor stepped onto the French Riviera in a breathtaking deep red Alexander McQueen gown that instantly had fashion fans losing their minds online. And honestly, this wasn’t just another pretty red carpet dress - this one came with serious fashion history attached to it.

Simone chose a vintage archival piece from Alexander McQueen’s Fall 2005 collection, proving once again that nothing beats a well-picked couture throwback at Cannes. The gown has already lived multiple iconic lives before landing on Simone. Gisele Bündchen famously wore it at the 2011 Met Gala as a tribute to the late McQueen, and Cate Blanchett was later photographed in it for British Vogue. Now, Simone Ashley has officially joined that very stylish club.

And somehow, the dress still felt completely fresh on her.

Styled by celebrity stylist Rebecca Corbin-Murray, Simone’s look leaned heavily into timeless Hollywood glamour with a touch of drama. The rich crimson gown featured a structured strapless bodice with corset-inspired detailing that hugged her silhouette beautifully before flowing into a dramatic pleated mermaid skirt. The sweeping train and delicate lacework added movement and texture without making the outfit feel too over-the-top.

It had that classic Cannes energy - elegant, cinematic, and impossible to ignore.

Instead of overcrowding the look with accessories, Simone kept things refined with sparkling diamond jewellery from Chaumet. A statement necklace, matching earrings, and cocktail rings added just the right amount of shine while still letting the gown remain the main character.

Her beauty look stayed soft and polished too. Loose waves, a deep side part, smoky eyes, and glossy nude-brown lips gave the entire appearance that effortless movie-star finish. Nothing looked forced or too trendy, which honestly made the whole look even more powerful.
