Kuala Lumpur International Airport’s Terminal 2 ranked ninth among world’s top 10 low-cost airline terminals at this year’s World Airport Awards as voted by Skytrax, a London-based aviation consultancy.
This recognition is given to airport terminals that specialize in serving low-cost carriers, based on a global survey assessing more than 575 airports across 100 different nationalities.
Located about 2 km from the main terminal, Terminal 2 dedicated to low-cost carriers features 68 departure gates, 80 aerobridges, and extensive retail space. The terminal operates round-the-clock transfer services, including buses and rail links connecting it to other parts of the airport.
The terminal spans 257,000 square meters and is equipped with modern infrastructure, including a large shopping complex, diverse dining options, and various amenities, all designed to offer a seamless travel experience for millions of passengers each year.

Kuala Lumpur International Airport, Southeast Asia’s largest airport by land area by spanning over 100 square kilometers, handled 16.9 million passengers in the first quarter of 2026, a 14.4% year-on-year increase.
Terminal 2 at Japan’s Kansai International Airport is named the world’s best this year, followed by Terminal 3 at Japan’s Narita International Airport.
