The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has extended the deadline for applying for the re-evaluation of Class 12 answer sheets. Students can now apply for the re-evaluation of their Class 12 answer sheets—as well as to obtain scanned copies—until May 23. CBSE took this decision after students faced various difficulties on the very first day while attempting to apply for the re-evaluation of their Class 12 papers. For instance, several students reported technical glitches, including the crashing of the application portal. This occurred despite CBSE stating earlier in the morning that the portal was functioning correctly. CBSE had initiated the re-evaluation process for Class 12 Board answer sheets on May 19.
Let us understand the full details of the matter: When and how can students apply for the re-evaluation of their Class 12 Board answer sheets and to obtain scanned copies? Furthermore, what reduction has been made to the applicable fees?
**Apply for Re-evaluation Now Until May 23**
CBSE had commenced the application process for the re-evaluation of Class 12 Board answer sheets—and for obtaining scanned copies—on May 19. In this context, the application portal was opened on Tuesday. According to the previously announced schedule, students were originally permitted to apply for this process until May 22; however, late on Tuesday evening, CBSE announced an extension of the deadline for re-evaluation applications. Consequently, applications for re-evaluation can now be submitted until May 23.
**Students Can View Answer Sheets from May 26 to May 29; Fees Reduced**
As per the schedule previously announced by CBSE, once the application process for re-evaluation is complete, students will be able to view their re-evaluated answer sheets between May 26 and May 29. Additionally, the Board has decided this time that if students wish to view their answer scripts, they may do so by paying a fee of ₹100, instead of the previous ₹700. If students require verification or authentication of their answer scripts, they will now have to pay ₹100, instead of the previous ₹500.
**How to Apply for Re-evaluation**
If you wish to apply for re-evaluation, first visit the official CBSE website.
Next, open the 'Post Result Services' section.
Log in by entering your Roll Number and other necessary details.
Then, select the required service—whether it is obtaining scanned copies of answer sheets, marks verification, or re-evaluation.
After correctly filling in the subject and question numbers, submit the fee online.
Upon the successful completion of the application, students will receive a receipt via SMS.
**Introduction of OMS This Year: Allegations of a Decline in Results**
This year, the CBSE evaluated the answer scripts for the Class 12 examinations online, a process termed the Online Marking System (OMS). Coincidentally, a decline has been recorded in the CBSE Class 12 results this time around. The results recorded this year are the lowest seen in recent years. Consequently, allegations are being raised that the decline in results is attributable to the OMS. However, both the CBSE and the Ministry of Education have refuted these allegations.
