The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) recently released the Class 12 board results. This year, a decline has been recorded in the Class 12 results. It is speculated that the drop in results occurred because CBSE evaluated the Class 12 answer sheets online this year. However, both CBSE and the Ministry of Education have refuted these allegations. Against this backdrop, all eyes are now on the re-evaluation process for CBSE Class 12 answer sheets. In light of this, CBSE has reduced the fee for the re-evaluation process. Under this process, students can view scanned copies of their answer sheets. The re-evaluation process commenced on May 19; however, several students have complained that they are unable to log in to apply for the re-evaluation of their CBSE Class 12 answer sheets. Nevertheless, CBSE has stated that the system is functioning properly.

Let us understand the entire situation. We will examine the complaints regarding technical glitches in the CBSE re-evaluation portal and find out what CBSE has said in response.

**Students Claim: CBSE Re-evaluation Portal Crashed**
CBSE initiated the re-evaluation process for Class 12 answer sheets on May 19. A dedicated portal has been opened to allow students to submit their applications; however, on the very first day, students reported technical glitches within the portal. Many students took to the social media platform 'X' to post about this issue, stating that the portal had crashed and they were unable to log in or submit their applications.

**CBSE States: System is Functioning Properly**
In response to these reports, CBSE has asserted that the system is functioning correctly. Speaking to the news agency PTI, CBSE Controller of Examinations Sanyam Bhardwaj stated that they had received "a few" phone calls from students in the morning who were unable to log in, but no further complaints were received thereafter. He stated that occasionally, when students open a web page, a previously cached version of the page loads instead of the current one. He mentioned that such students were advised to restart their computers. Subsequently, they did not receive any further phone calls regarding the issue.

He added that if a student is currently unable to submit an application via the portal, they should try again after some time. The inability to do so right now does not imply that they will be unable to apply for an extended period. He advised students to wait and then resubmit their applications. Bhardwaj also emphasized that the portal is functioning correctly.

**CAPTCHA Feature Removed from Portal**
CBSE Controller of Examinations, Sanyam Bhardwaj, stated that the portal for the re-evaluation of CBSE Class 12 answer sheets is functioning properly. He noted, "I even submitted an application as a dummy candidate, and it was submitted successfully." Dismissing claims of major glitches, Bhardwaj suggested that any issues encountered might be linked to weak internet connections on the users' end. He also clarified that the CAPTCHA feature had been removed from the portal following complaints from some students that it was not appearing.

**Applications Accepted Until May 22; Fees Reduced**
On Tuesday, May 19, the CBSE initiated the process for the re-evaluation and verification of Class 12 answer sheets; under this process, students may submit their applications until May 22. Following the application submission, students will be able to view their re-evaluated answer sheets between May 26 and May 29. Furthermore, the Board has decided that if students wish to view their answer sheets, they may do so by paying a fee of ₹100, reduced from the previous ₹700. Similarly, if students require verification or authentication of their answer sheets, they will now be required to pay ₹100 instead of ₹500.
