Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Warren Zaire-Emery has urged his team to maintain complete concentration as they gear up for a historic UEFA Champions League final against Arsenal. The 20-year-old believes that the showdown in Budapest will be determined by the narrowest of margins when PSG face the newly-crowned Premier League champions.
Zaire-Emery cautions PSG ahead of Arsenal clash
Zaire-Emery has reminded his Paris Saint-Germain colleagues that they cannot afford any lapse in focus when they step onto the pitch at the Puskas Arena on May 30. The French international, who has excelled under Luis Enrique this season while often filling in at right-back, acknowledged the challenge that Mikel Arteta’s Gunners present.
“At this level, we must respect every opponent,” Zaire-Emery told journalists at the PSG Campus. “They have an extremely strong squad — we’ve seen it — they are Premier League champions. We’ll need to stay focused and avoid even the smallest mistakes. That’s what will make the difference.”
PSG eye back-to-back European finals
The Ligue 1 champions are set to contest their second straight Champions League final, an achievement that Zaire-Emery believes deserves recognition from both supporters and the media. The PSG academy graduate expressed his pride in the club’s consistency on the European stage after their triumph over Inter Milan in last season’s final.
“It’s a proud moment,” the young midfielder said. “We’re all aware of what we’ve achieved this year and last year. It’s something we can’t take for granted — it’s incredible. We’re ready, and you can see that the team is preparing in a great atmosphere. We have a strong group, and we’re doing everything possible to be ready for the big day.”
Enrique praises Arsenal as ‘best in the world without the ball’
PSG manager Luis Enrique has echoed Zaire-Emery’s cautious sentiment, offering high praise for Arsenal’s tactical organisation. Even though PSG overcame the North London side in last season’s semi-finals, Enrique believes Mikel Arteta’s men have evolved into a team that is extremely hard to counter. Speaking ahead of the final, the Spaniard said, “They fully deserve to win the league — they’ve had an outstanding season.”
“We’ve faced this Arsenal side before, so we know how dangerous they can be. Without possession, they are the best team in the world, and with the ball, they can cause serious damage. It’s a perfect balance for them.”
Ousmane Dembele fitness concern
Despite the positive atmosphere in training, PSG are facing anxious moments regarding the fitness of Ousmane Dembele. The winger, who has played a pivotal role this season with 19 goals and 11 assists in 39 appearances across all competitions, raised injury fears after being substituted in the final domestic league match against Paris FC.
The club later confirmed that the Ballon d’Or winner is dealing with muscle discomfort in his calf. Addressing reporters, Enrique said, “I think it’s just fatigue. What we’re saying right now is only speculation, but I don’t believe it’s anything serious.” Nonetheless, the medical team faces a race against time to ensure Dembele is fully fit for the May 30 final.
