England’s football stars are anxiously waiting to discover whether they have earned a place in Thomas Tuchel’s World Cup squad.

With just one month left before the 2026 World Cup kicks off, England supporters are eager to see which players Tuchel will select for the tournament.

The Three Lions secured qualification for this summer’s World Cup with an impeccable record of eight wins from eight matches.

Having come close to glory in 2018 and reached the finals of the last two European Championships, England are considered one of the leading contenders for the tournament set to take place in the United States.

A number of players are virtually guaranteed a place in Tuchel’s 26-man squad for the World Cup.

There were some unexpected call-ups in Tuchel’s most recent England selection for the friendlies against Uruguay and Japan, which has only added to the speculation. But when will the final squad be confirmed?

According to FIFA regulations, England must submit a provisional list of up to 55 players by Monday, May 11. Tuchel may choose to name fewer if he wishes.

The final 26-man list must be submitted to FIFA by Saturday, May 30. England’s opening World Cup fixture, against Croatia, will be held on June 17.

In addition to those selected in the final squad, Tuchel will be allowed to bring nine extra players to the United States for training purposes. These players will act as reserves in case of injuries before the first match.

Despite being regarded as one of the top managers in world football, Tuchel faces some challenging decisions as he works to finalise his squad for the World Cup.

With only a few matches remaining this season, players will be looking to make their mark and catch Tuchel’s attention, while established names will aim to stay fit and avoid injuries ahead of the final announcement.

Jordan Pickford, Nico O’Reilly, Marc Guehi, Declan Rice, Elliot Anderson, Jude Bellingham, Bukayo Saka, and Harry Kane are all expected to be automatic selections.

Ezri Konsa, John Stones, Eberechi Eze, Morgan Rogers, and Marcus Rashford are also strong contenders to make the cut, but there remains plenty of competition for the remaining places in the squad.

England’s final two warm-up matches will be against New Zealand on June 6 and Costa Rica on June 10. These fixtures will serve as the team’s last preparation games before the World Cup gets underway.
