Will Caitlin Clark and Sophie Cunningham join WWE? What Nikki Bella said

Caitlin Clark and Sophie Cunningham have spent plenty of time making headlines on the basketball court, but this week their names suddenly entered a very different conversation. WWE Hall of Famer Nikki Bella stirred up social media after publicly challenging the two Indiana Fever guards to a future WWE showdown alongside her sister, Brie Bella. What started as playful banter quickly turned into one of the most talked-about crossover moments involving the WNBA this season.

The timing is not completely random. Cunningham has openly discussed her interest in professional wrestling before, and her energetic personality already feels tailor-made for WWE-style entertainment. Add Clark’s growing celebrity status into the mix, and suddenly the idea created enough buzz to travel well beyond basketball circles. Even fans who never expected wrestling and the WNBA to overlap found themselves paying attention.

What Nikki Bella said about Caitlin Clark and Sophie Cunningham possibly joining WWE

Nikki Bella first addressed the idea during an interview with Sports Illustrated’s Kent Brown while responding to earlier comments Cunningham made about wanting to face the Bella Twins one day. This time, though, Bella expanded the challenge and included Clark directly in the conversation.

“Sophie Cunningham has said that she's wanted to take me on, so I'd like to take her and Caitlin Clark on, that'd be fun,” Bella said. “She started it, we'll finish it.”

The comments instantly gained traction online, especially after Bella leaned further into the joke when asked whether she could picture herself using her signature finishing move on Clark.

“Dude, I'll Rack Attack the s–t out of her,” she said.

Clark has not publicly responded, but her involvement alone pushed the clip across social media platforms within hours. The Fever star has become one of the most recognizable athletes in American sports over the last two years, and her name now stretches into celebrity culture far beyond the WNBA. Whether it is endorsement campaigns, viral moments or crossover speculation, Clark consistently attracts attention in ways few basketball players currently do.

Cunningham’s connection to the story runs deeper. Last December, during an interview with Bryanna Sports, she admitted professional wrestling had long interested her. When the Bella Twins were mentioned as WWE legends she might one day compete against, Cunningham confidently replied, “Well, I'm hopefully gonna take away their shine one day.”

WWE continues expanding athlete crossovers ahead of major events

The exchange also reflects WWE’s increasing interest in athletes outside wrestling. Over recent years, the company has brought in stars from the NBA, NFL, UFC, college athletics, and basketball to appear in storylines or major events. With the WNBA experiencing major growth and visibility, it makes sense that wrestling personalities are now engaging with some of the league’s biggest names.

Cunningham has even revealed WWE previously reached out to her, suggesting the possibility may not be entirely fictional. For now, though, the idea remains a fun hypothetical that has fans imagining Clark and Cunningham trading basketball shoes for wrestling boots.
