In recent seasons, FC Bayern Munich has consistently demonstrated why they remain one of the most appealing clubs in global football. Their success on the pitch, highlighted by a recent domestic double, continues to make them a top destination for elite players – both in terms of sporting ambition and transfer-market allure.
Two of the clearest examples of this are Harry Kane and Michael Olise, whose decisions to join Bayern underline the club’s enduring pull. Kane’s stunning hat-trick in the cup final against VfB Stuttgart sealed the double for the record champions, while Olise has rapidly become a key component in Vincent Kompany’s attacking setup.
According to the French daily L’Equipe, both players had been high on Paris Saint-Germain’s transfer wish list before opting for moves to Munich. Ultimately, however, Kane and Olise both turned down PSG’s advances to sign for Bayern.
In Kane’s case, this was particularly striking. After leaving Tottenham Hotspur, the England captain was determined to join a team with a genuine and immediate chance of winning the UEFA Champions League. For him, Bayern Munich offered a clearer path to that goal than Paris Saint-Germain.
L’Equipe reported that negotiations between PSG and Kane’s camp were complicated, with his father and brother playing major roles in discussions. Despite PSG’s interest, Kane eventually chose to move to Munich – a decision that has since paid off handsomely on the field.
Michael Olise’s situation followed a similar pattern. The former Crystal Palace star was considered a dream signing for PSG, yet he too decided to join Bayern. The overall sporting project in Munich, combined with the opportunity to develop under Kompany, was said to be far more convincing for the young forward.
Since his arrival, Olise has evolved into one of Europe’s most exciting attackers, with his performances now reportedly attracting attention from other heavyweights, including Real Madrid.
The dual signings of Kane and Olise send a powerful message across the transfer market: FC Bayern Munich’s appeal remains unmatched, even in the face of stiff financial competition from Premier League clubs and PSG. The Bavarian giants continue to attract players who prioritise sporting stability and a clear vision for success over simply the highest salaries.
L’Equipe further claims that PSG have decided they will no longer pursue players who are already leaning towards other clubs, signalling a shift in their transfer approach.
